SCENE 01 / MULTI CAMERA SETUPS

Multi-Camera Setups

Professional live event coverage and multi-camera production across Canada.

Scroll

Multi-camera setups deploy two or more cameras simultaneously to capture comprehensive coverage of scenes, events, or performances. From hockey broadcasts at Scotiabank Arena to live concerts in Montreal and Vancouver, this approach maximizes shooting efficiency, preserves performance continuity, and provides editors with multiple angles from each take.

We coordinate multi-camera configurations with matched camera bodies, synchronized settings, and integrated monitoring systems across Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Calgary. Our team works alongside the broadcast infrastructure connected to Pinewood Toronto Studios and MELS Studios in Montreal, leveraging Canada's strong CRTC-regulated television production base.

CBC, Radio-Canada, CTV and TVA multi-cam lineage from TIFF to the Calgary Stampede

Here is how the work lines up. Multi-camera production in Canada is built on the long studio-factory traditions of CBC and Radio-Canada in Toronto, Montreal and Halifax, CTV across the Bell Media network, Global Television, Citytv, TVA and Noovo in Quebec — the same production base that delivers Schitt's Creek at the CBC, Murdoch Mysteries at Citytv, Heartland in Calgary and the Hallmark Christmas factory output that ships out of Winnipeg, Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary every season.

Our multi-cam packages run on Sony HDC-3500 and HDC-5500 systems chassis, Grass Valley LDX and Panasonic AK studio cameras, Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2 fly-packs for festival and corporate work, and the Blackmagic ATEM Constellation 8K and NewTek TriCaster TC2 Elite switchers that broadcast technical directors at the network OB-truck level prefer.

Studio configurations match Citytv Breakfast Television Toronto, Tout le monde en parle TVA Montreal and the CBC News morning shows, while live-event rigs deploy into Rogers Centre Toronto, Scotiabank Arena, BC Place and Rogers Arena Vancouver, Bell Centre Montreal, Saddledome Calgary and Rogers Place Edmonton on Maple Leafs, Canadiens, Canucks and Flames broadcast feeds.

Festival and live broadcast windows define the calendar. TIFF in September brings red-carpet multi-cam at the Roy Thomson Hall and the Princess of Wales; Hot Docs each April and May lights up the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema and TIFF Bell Lightbox; the Calgary Stampede in July fields chuckwagon and rodeo arena rigs; Just for Laughs Montreal each July runs through Place des Arts and Quartier des spectacles; the Carnaval de Québec in February deploys cold-weather multi-cam on the Plains of Abraham; the Toronto Caribbean Carnival in August handles Lakeshore route coverage.

ISED spectrum coordination governs the wireless cam, IFB and intercom RF; CRTC broadcast spec — including SMPTE 2110-30/40 audio, closed-captioning and called video — applies to feeds delivered to CBC Tech-Ops, Radio-Canada and Bell Media Master Control. Bilingual English/French audio routing, Dolby E embedded tracks, and CNESST/WSIB/WorkSafeBC workplace insurance for stage and arena rigging round out the package, with IATSE 667 camera-op and 514/873/891 grip/lighting crew calls aligned to the CPTC and provincial film and TV labour credits.

FAQ

Live Production Expertise

How many cameras can you deploy?

We regularly operate setups from 3 to 12+ cameras depending on event scale. For major concerts at venues like Rogers Centre or Bell Centre, we can deploy extensive camera packages including specialty positions like jibs, roving cameras, and POV units.

Do you provide live switching and direction?

Yes, our multi-camera packages include experienced vision mixers and directors who switch between cameras in real-time, creating a polished live edit. We can deliver a switched program feed, ISO recordings, or both.

Can you live stream our event?

Yes, we provide complete live streaming services including encoding, CDN delivery, and platform management for YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, or custom platforms. We can also provide satellite uplink for broadcast.

What about IMAG for live audiences?

We provide IMAG (Image Magnification) services for concerts and events, feeding live camera coverage to venue screens so audiences can see close-ups of performers and speakers.

Do you have OB van facilities?

We work with professional OB (Outside Broadcast) vans equipped with switching desks, monitoring, audio mixing, and all necessary infrastructure. Canada's broadcast industry maintains some of North America's most experienced OB van fleets.

How far in advance should we book?

For major events, we recommend booking 4-6 weeks ahead to ensure equipment availability and proper planning. Smaller multi-camera shoots can often be arranged with 1-2 weeks notice.

Productions in Canada that need this often pair it with Live Streaming, Virtual Reality Filming, and Volumetric Capture for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Competition & Reality Show Production and Multi-Camera Shoots.
