Wireless Audio Systems
Professional wireless microphones and RF coordination for productions throughout Canada.
Wireless audio systems provide cable-free transmission of microphone signals, intercom feeds, and monitoring audio across production sets. We coordinate frequencies compliant with ISED Canadian regulations, managing RF challenges across productions from dense downtown Toronto to remote Northern locations. Digital wireless technology delivers reliable, high-quality audio transmission that gives talent freedom of movement and sound departments flexibility in complex shooting environments.
We source wireless audio systems with the channel capacity and frequency coordination your production demands across Canada. Our team handles spectrum scanning compliant with ISED Canadian spectrum regulations, system configuration, and backup equipment to ensure interference-free wireless audio performance throughout your shoot, regardless of location complexity.

Wisycom, Lectrosonics, Shure Axient and Sony DWX kits with ISED spectrum coordination through the post-2019 600 MHz re-allocation
Here is how the work lines up. Wireless audio in Canada runs the standard senior matrix our mixers and utility-sound technicians deploy through Trew Audio Vancouver and Toronto, William F. White, Sim Digital, Coastal Sound and Audio Plus. The base wireless kit pairs Wisycom MCR42 dual-channel diversity receivers with MTP41S body-pack transmitters for the deepest UHF tuning range, Lectrosonics SRc dual-receivers and SMQv, LMb and DCHT transmitters for the long-running US-studio compatibility, Shure Axient Digital ADX5D portable and ADX1 body-pack for the encrypted-digital VIP and reality-television tier, and Sony DWR-R03D for productions standardised on the Sony DWX 1.2 GHz ecosystem.
Plug-on transmitters cover boom-fed and reporter-mic configurations. IFB packages route to global directors and producers through Lectrosonics IFB, Comtek M-216 and Shure PSM 300 systems, all running on lined up frequencies separate from the dialogue wireless. Lavalier microphones complete the kit — DPA 6060 and 6061 CORE, Sanken COS-11D, Countryman B6 and the larger DPA 4060 and 4061 — concealed through Bubblebee Lav Concealers, Hide-a-Mic, Viviana clips and Rycote Overcover wind protection across costume types.
Canadian spectrum management is the engineering layer that decides which gear actually works. ISED (Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada) holds the federal radio-frequency mandate and the post-2019 T-Mobile 600 MHz auction re-allocated the 614 to 698 MHz band away from production wireless toward mobile carriers. This means any kit still tuned in that range needs frequency re-coordination or retirement. CRTC governs broadcast TV channel allocation underneath the wireless work, so RF scanning the local TV white space in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary and Halifax happens at scout.
The 1.9 GHz Wisycom DECT band is the cleaner option in dense urban interference corridors — the TTC subway, the Vancouver SkyTrain, the Montreal Metro and the underground PATH network in downtown Toronto all create enough RF noise that a UHF-only kit struggles on dialogue. TIFF, Hot Docs, Calgary Stampede, Just for Laughs Montreal and CFL Grey Cup weeks create temporary RF density spikes our coordinators flag at the production-meeting stage. CBSA ATA carnet handles global wireless imports. The IATSE 891, 873 and 514 utility-sound assistants on the truck handle wireless rigging under the production sound mixer's department lead.
FAQ
Wireless Equipment Inventory
What wireless systems do you provide?
We provide professional wireless systems from leading manufacturers including Lectrosonics (Digital Hybrid, DSQD), Wisycom (MCR series), Sennheiser (Digital 6000, EW series), and Audio Ltd (A10). System selection depends on your production requirements, budget, and operating environment.
How do you handle frequency coordination in Canada?
We manage frequency coordination according to Canadian RF regulations (ANFR). This includes spectrum scanning at your locations, coordination with other productions sharing venues, and ensuring compliance with licensed frequency bands. We handle the technical complexity so your production stays legal and interference-free.
What lavalier microphones do you recommend?
We provide premium lavaliers from DPA (4060, 4061, 6060), Sanken (COS-11), and Countryman (B6). Microphone selection depends on application—we recommend based on concealment requirements, sound characteristics, and compatibility with wardrobe and talent.
Can you support large multi-channel productions?
Yes. We regularly support productions requiring 20, 30, or 40+ wireless channels. This includes feature films, large-scale commercials, and live events. We provide frequency coordination, sufficient receivers, backup systems, and experienced operators to manage complex wireless deployments.
What about IFB and communication systems?
We provide IFB (interruptible foldback) systems for talent earpieces, director communication, and live broadcast applications. This includes Comtek, Lectrosonics IFB, and Shure PSM systems, coordinated with your production's wireless microphone frequencies.
Do wireless systems come with operators?
Wireless equipment can be rented standalone or with experienced sound teams who handle all wireless management. For complex deployments, we recommend including operators who specialize in RF coordination and talent wiring.
