Here is how the work lines up. Data management on Canadian shoots runs through a deep network of DIT carts and dailies labs. Our stations are built around 1RU Mac Mini M2 Ultra heads paired with Promise Pegasus R8, Sonnet xMac mini Server enclosures and 12-bay RAID arrays — enough throughput to handle ARRIRAW, ProRes, RED R3D, Sony X-OCN, Blackmagic BRAW and Canon Cinema RAW from a single cart setup. Codex Compact Drive readers, Sony SxS and RED MINI-MAG readers cover each cinema camera body shooting in Canada.
Here is what that looks like on the ground. Software stack runs Silverstack for offload and reporting, ShotPut Pro for backup workflow, DaVinci Resolve for dailies grading and CDL generation. Field storage ships on G-Tech Shuttle SSD, LaCie Rugged and Samsung T7 and T9 portable SSDs sized to the schedule. Dailies pipeline partners Sim Digital Toronto and Vancouver, DNEG Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, MELS Post Montreal and Pixomondo Toronto handle same-day delivery into the major post houses.
Here is how the picture comes together. Climate is the differentiator on Canadian data handling. Quebec, Yukon and Nunavut shoots from December through March sit at -25°C, so drives ship in climate-controlled Pelican cases with desiccant, offload happens inside heated DIT tents or rental-house mobile units, and chain-of-custody documents log each transfer by hand against camera reports. Battery efficiency drops in cold, so DIT carts ship with extra Anton/Bauer Cine VCLX battery stations on Banff, Yukon or Iqaluit days.
Here is what we have to work with. Multi-camera Netflix, Amazon or CBC broadcast shoots get parallel offload arrays with same-day dailies handoff to Sim Digital or DNEG via secure courier or encrypted upload when bandwidth allows. LTO archival through Sim Digital and DNEG closes out the schedule with metadata, shot reports and retrieval records. CBSA ATA carnets cover imported drives and DIT hardware through YYZ Toronto Pearson, YVR Vancouver and YUL Montreal so a complete pipeline is on set day one.
